Every CAO course, alongside UK and overseas options

MyUniChoices uses course data from CAO, so students can explore degree, diploma and certificate courses at universities, technological universities and colleges across Ireland, then compare them with options in the UK and further afield on one shortlist.

  • Recommendations matched to each student’s interests and abilities, with Irish courses first for Irish schools.
  • Degree Course Descriptions for 110+ subject areas, written by university academics, so students understand what a course really involves.
  • A university checklist and research links to compare locations, course content and entry requirements before the CAO deadline.
  • Guidance counsellors can see every student’s shortlist in MyHQ and plan one-to-one conversations around it.

Entry requirements and points change each year, so students should always check the current details on cao.ie and the college’s own website.

Smooth the application process

Students record the skills, experience and strengths they need for CAO and other applications in their Student Portal, including a personal statement if they apply to the UK. One hub provides all the resources students need to make confident choices and applications.

How MyUniChoices Works

Registering for MyUniChoices

Students are enrolled through their school, with guidance counsellors or teachers facilitating access to the online platform. This setup ensures a smooth start to exploring courses in Ireland and abroad.

Completing the Assessment

Students answer a 150-question psychometric assessment designed to uncover their interests and abilities. The assessment takes about 30 minutes and can be completed at their own pace: students can stop at any point and return later, with their progress saved.

Receiving Personalised Course Recommendations

Upon completion, students receive instant, tailored recommendations from a database of 48,800+ courses from 772 institutions, including Irish, UK and overseas options.

Exploring Course Details

Each recommended course includes comprehensive information, such as:

Course content and structure.
Entry requirements.
Institution facilities and resources.
Career prospects post-graduation.

This detailed insight helps students make informed decisions about their higher education options.

Planning Applications

MyUniChoices helps students build a shortlist to research before the CAO deadline, with links to helpful research and a university checklist so that all aspects are considered. For students also applying to the UK, the Personal Statement Planner helps them craft compelling applications.
